SIXTH Generation CORVETTE CONCEPT OVERVIEWS
The sixth-generation (C6) Corvette concept and show cars often felt less like dream cars and more like functional laboratories—ways for Chevrolet to explore performance and technology without straying from Corvette’s core mission. A perfect example is the Corvette Z06 E85 Concept that served as the 2008 Indianapolis 500 pace car, highlighting renewable E85 ethanol fuel and wearing dramatic Gold Rush Green color-shifting paint, with the pace lap driven by two-time Indy 500 winner Emerson Fittipaldi. At the other extreme, the Z06X Track Car Concept, developed with Pratt & Miller, demonstrated how far a sixth-generation Corvette could be pushed toward true closed-course competition hardware.
